Tiny roots started to sprouts from the green bean.
It seems the teapot is too small as beans sprouted and fill up the entire teapot. The is some sourish smell as well, and it could due due to poor air ventilation within the teapot.
I need to take out some sprouted beans from the teapot into another container.
I decide to make a container with holes at the bottom which allow the roots to come out from the water and dip into the water underneath.
Sadly the storage area is too small.
I have to find another bigger pot to fill up the remaining beans.
To have better ventilation and avoid the sourish smell, I cover the top part of the container with a coloured cloth instead of covering it fully using the original cover.
Lesson: the beans could expand up to 10x after 2 days.
It is the third day, where the bean sprouts are 5-6cm long. They are fresh and crunchy, and taste pretty good.
I decide to harvest them today, as I am worried the hot weather will make them thin and sauggy by the next day.
The quality of harvest from the tea pot, porcelain container and a custom made plastic container are almost the same.
There are many small beans didn't sprout to full size (less than 1cm) and I wonder if this is the norm or downside of sprouting them in a pot (as opposed to using a plastic filter with holes).
I wash the bean sprouts, put into a zip lock bag and put in the fridge. They should be good for a week.
This is my first successful harvest.
