Dilude Hydrogen Peroxide (H202)

Hydrogen Peroxide

I want to dilute 50% hydrogen peroxide to 3%.

The formula is C1V1 = C2V2.
C = Concentration
V = Volume (litre)
1 = Original / Stock solution
2 = Final solution

Let's say I want to make 1000ml of Hidrogen Peroxide 3%, how much of Hydrogen Peroxide 50% is needed?

50% x V1 = 3% x 1000ml
V1 = 3% / 50% x 1000ml
V1 = 60ml

We need 60ml of Hydrogen Peroxide 50% to make 1000ml of Hydrogen Peroxide 3%.

Prepare safety Goggles

Prepare rubber gloves

Prepare measuring cup

Hydrogen Peroxide 50%.

Calculate the volume required. I need 15ml Hydrogen Peroxide 50% to make 250ml of Hydrogen Peroxide 3%.

Prepare distilled water. I use purified water since I don't have distilled water. Distilled water is used to ensure no other substance in the water affect the purity of the final hydrogen peroxide solution.

Measure 250ml of water (or 250ml - 15ml = 235ml to be more accurate).

Careful when open the container of Hydrogen Peroxide 50% as pressure might have build up in the container.

Pour out 15ml of Hydrogen Peroxide 50%. Avoid pouring extra Hydrogen Peroxide back into the bottle.

15ml of Hydrogen Peroxide 50%.

Mix 15ml of Hidrogen Peroxide 50% into 235ml of water.

Store the solution in the bottle. Hydrogen Peroxide might loose it's strength over time, so mix just enough solution to be used within days.
